 MENTOR seeks an action-oriented, strategic, and hands on professional with experience collaborating across diverse sets of stakeholders to serve as its Director of Training Development and Product Design. Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, the Director will drive and execute MENTOR’s vision for quality training development and product design. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in adult learning theory and instructional design principles, and possess a deep knowledge of mentoring program development best practices as outlined in the Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring. He/she will drive innovative approaches such as critical mentoring, trauma-informed mentoring, school-based mentoring and mentoring special populations; while simultaneously working to ensure that products and training are congruent with adult learning theory, follow instructional design best practices, and are evidence-based. This is a dynamic opportunity for a professional who has chosen the mentoring or youth development field as their career and is passionate about serving young people and supporting programs in their development and growth.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of new program related products and trainings; working in collaboration with the Director of Research and Evaluation to ensure they are evidence and research-based while meeting the diverse needs of mentoring programs so they are better equipped to support their mentors and mentees 
  • Identify product and training development priorities based on needs, knowledge of the mentoring field and through collaborative planning
  • Lead the development of products and training programs for broad implementation across MENTOR’s Affiliates and for national organizations
  • Develop, design and codify training and product design best practices that get implemented across departments at MENTOR
  • Lead the development and maintenance of processes, templates and best practices for online learning design
  • Provide training and support to others internally and externally on best practices in training design and in online learning design
