Wilkes University invites applicants for an instructional designer in the Office of Technology for Teaching and Learning. The Office of Technology for Teaching and Learning provides instructional design services to faculty and other subject matter experts who are developing fully online courses as well as supports faculty implementing various instructional technologies into their courses, or using the University's learning management system to supplement a face-to-face course. The Office also provides faculty development in the form of workshops, one-on-one trainings and webinars on various topics related to technology, teaching and learning. The University has a large number of growing online programs, which are central to meeting enrollment targets and achieving the current strategic plan.

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for collaborating with subject matter experts through the design and implementation of online courses by applying best practices in adult learning theory, instructional design models, assessment techniques, and effective use of technology to create high quality, engaging courses that meet educational outcomes. In addition, the instructional designer will support faculty through workshops and one-on-one sessions with the integration of technology, development of skills and knowledge in online and hybrid pedagogy, and use of the learning management system as well as the other tools and systems available at Wilkes.

The position requires a minimum of a master's degree from a regionally accredited higher education institution in instructional or curriculum design, instructional or educational technology, or comparable discipline. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in instructional design supporting the development of online and/or blended initiatives in an academic setting. Some experience developing and delivering group and individual trainings using various types of educational technology tools and their application to the classroom is preferred. Familiarity with the Brightspace learning management system and current models of online course quality is highly desirable. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
